Call for Submitters and Participants for the 2026 Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun Tanka Competition! The submission method will change this year! We will be hosting the 2026 Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun Tanka Competition, welcoming Mr. Takeshi Kuroiwa (Representative of the Japan Tanka Poets Club, Chief Editor and Selection Committee Member of "Kokoro no Hana"). The event will include a commemorative lecture, recitation, and critiques. We look forward to many submissions and participation.

Approximately 1300 years ago, in the capital city of Nara, eight statues were brought into existence by order of Empress Kōmyōshi. These eight statues—Gobujō, Shakara, Kutabanda, Gandharva, Ashura, Garuda, Kinnara, and Bibakara—still remain at Kōfuku-ji Temple today. They stand quietly, and somehow with a sense of loneliness. Their origins are shrouded in mystery—a new musical that depicts, from a unique perspective, the life of the nameless sculptor who lay behind the creation of the Ashura statue.

This is a recital by students of RESTA MUSIC. Many of the students have never touched a bass guitar before, but they have practiced diligently every day and will deliver a performance for everyone. Please enjoy the powerful sound that only a live music venue can offer. Also, Naoya, the instructor, will be launching his solo project "AshenCrow" on this day. Please enjoy his live performance, which is filled with the music he has always wanted to express.
