In Okinawa City, a city deeply connected to the Jūyōryū school of Ryukyuan dance, we will be hosting a recital by Jūyōryū master Megumi Maeda. Seven pieces will be performed, ranging from classical works from the Ryukyu Kingdom era to original compositions. We will deliver a performance that embodies the ideal of Jūyōryū, a Ryukyuan dance style characterized by naturalness and movement within stillness. In addition, this year marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Nerome Fusako (now Shida Fusako) Dance Institute in Goya, Koza City in 1956. To commemorate this milestone, we will be presenting a special program as a token of our gratitude to the people of Okinawa City.
