The 42nd Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun Haiku Contest will be held at the Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun headquarters on Saturday, May 30th, from 1:00 PM. The judge will be Kai Hasegawa (from Uki City, Kumamoto Prefecture), and the theme is either "Minamata Memorial Day (May 1st)" or any other theme. Each person may submit up to three haiku. The deadline is April 20th. The submission form can be accessed via the QR code in the Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun's electronic edition below. We look forward to receiving your submissions!

【Venue】Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun Main Building, 2nd Floor Hall (1-5-1 Seian, Chuo-ku, Kumamoto City)

【Submission】◎Up to three haiku per person (limited to unpublished works)

◎Theme: "Minamata Memorial Day (May 1st)" or Free Theme

[How to Submit] Please choose from the following 1, 2, or 3

Enter and submit your entry on the "Submission Form" in the Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun electronic edition
Fill out the designated "Submission Form" (download, print, or copy is acceptable) and mail it
Fill out the designated "Submission Form" and submit it along with cash to the Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun Playguide on the 6th floor of the BiPress Kumamoto Nichinichi Shimbun Hall (Kamitori Entrance)

[Submission Fee] 2,200 yen (1,100 yen for high school students and younger)

[Prizes] Certificates, shields, calligraphy by the judge, and supplementary prizes for one haiku each in the categories of Heaven, Earth, and Man. Certificates, shields, and supplementary prizes for 10 outstanding haiku. Certificates and supplementary prizes for 20 selected haiku and 20 honorable mention haiku.

*A "Collection of Works from the Competition" will be distributed to all participants (issued on the day of the event).

[Deadline] Must arrive by Monday, April 20th.

*Participation on the day (without submitting a haiku) is 1,000 yen including the collection of works.
