飛行機が初めて日本の空を飛んだ1911年の女子師範学校を舞台に、「規範に囚われず自分らしく生きたい」と願う少女たちの葛藤と成長が描かれ、大逆事件の翌年という激動の時代、少女たちの起こした小さな事件が問いかけたものは、100年余の時を超え、今を生きる私たちへと手渡されています。
明治末期の女子師範学校。光島延ぶは、誰からも愛されるお茶目な優等生として、充実した日々を送っていた。だが、下級生の杉坂初江と知り合ったことから、延ぶの生活は一変する。初江は、学校で禁じられた小説を読み、女性の自立を求める「問題児」。初江との交流を通して、延ぶは当たり前だと思っていた世界に新たな視線を向け始める。やがて二人は、教師・安達貞子から紹介された雑誌『青鞜』に触発され、秘密の回覧雑誌を計画する。だが、学校は良妻賢母教育へと方針を変え、級友がささいな理由で退学処分になった。少女たちの間に、かつてない波紋が広がり始める。

二兎社

1981年、大石静と永井愛の二人が設立。ともに卯年生まれであったことから、 劇団名を「二兎社(にとしゃ)」とした。それぞれのオリジナル作品を交互に上演し、二人は役者としても出演。『カズオ』などの「早替わり二人芝居」で人気を博し、大石の退団した1991年以降は、永井の作・演出作品をプロデュースする演劇ユニットとして活動を続けている。

A girls' normal school in the late Meiji era. Mitsushima Nobu was a cheerful and well-liked honor student, enjoying fulfilling days. However, her life changed completely when she met Sugisaka Hatsue, a younger student. Hatsue was a "problem child" who read novels forbidden at school and sought female independence. Through her interactions with Hatsue, Nobu begins to look at the world she had always taken for granted with a new perspective. Eventually, the two are inspired by the magazine "Seito," which is introduced to them by their teacher, Adachi Sadako, and plan to create a secret circulating magazine. However, the school changes its policy to focus on good wife and wise mother education, and a classmate is expelled for a trivial reason. An unprecedented ripple effect begins to spread among the girls. Since both were born in the Year of the Rabbit, they named their theater company "Nitosha" (Two Rabbits Company). They alternately staged their own original works, and both also appeared as actors. They gained popularity with their "quick-change two-person plays" such as "Kazuo," and since Oishi's departure in 1991, they have continued to operate as a theater unit producing works written and directed by Nagai.
