二兎社の第50回となる記念すべき公演は、永井愛の代表作の一つでありながら、これまで永井自身の演出での上演がなかった『見よ、飛行機の高く飛べるを』。二兎社、永井愛演出での本作の上演は今回が初めてとなります。婦人参政権運動を主導した市川房枝と、永井愛の祖母の、愛知県立第二師範女子部での実際の交流を下敷きに描いた群像劇。良妻賢母教育に抗い、自分らしく生きようとする少女たちの姿が、瑞々しく描かれます。

二兎社

1981年、大石静と永井愛の二人が設立。ともに卯年生まれであったことから、 劇団名を「二兎社(にとしゃ)」とした。それぞれのオリジナル作品を交互に上演し、二人は役者としても出演。『カズオ』などの「早替わり二人芝居」で人気を博し、大石の退団した1991年以降は、永井の作・演出作品をプロデュースする演劇ユニットとして活動を続けている。

Nito-sha's 50th commemorative performance is "See, How High the Airplane Can Fly," one of Nagai Ai's representative works, which has never been performed under Nagai's direction before. This will be the first time that Nito-sha will perform this work under the direction of Nagai Ai. The ensemble drama is based on the actual interactions between Ichikawa Fusae, who led the women's suffrage movement, and Nagai Ai's grandmother at the Aichi Prefectural Second Normal School for Girls. The story vividly portrays girls who resist the education of good wives and wise mothers and try to live life on their own terms. As both were born in the Year of the Rabbit, they named the theater company "Nito-sha" (Two Rabbits Company). They alternately stage their own original works, and the two also appear as actors. They gained popularity with their "quick-change two-person plays" such as "Kazuo," and since Oishi's departure in 1991, they have continued to operate as a theater unit producing works written and directed by Nagai.
