Six up-and-coming rakugo storytellers will compete in a heated battle of storytelling skills. The judges will be the audience! Your vote could change the fate of a rakugo storyteller. Look forward to the moment a new star is born! Past grand prize winners include Hayashiya Taihei (3rd), Katsura Bunji (7th), Kokontei Kikunojo (8th), Yanagiya Sansan (9th), and Shunputei Ichinosuke (19th), all of whom are currently very popular storytellers. With a history of over 30 years, this is a gateway for young rakugo storytellers and is considered one of the "three major young rakugo storyteller competitions," alongside the "Sagamihara Young Rakugo Storyteller Championship" and the "NHK Newcomer Rakugo Grand Prize."
