- POINT
overview
This four-piece band was formed in Okinawa in April 2005. They are popular across generations with their sound, which combines Okinawan musical scales with rock and reggae, and their messages conveyed through simple language. They debuted in February 2006 with the mini-album "Koibito yo." Their straightforward song "Amma," which expresses gratitude to one's mother, resonated with many people and won them the New Artist Award at the Japan Cable Awards. This year marks the 19th anniversary of their debut, and they continue to sing "shima uta" (island songs) unique to the Okinawan people they were born and raised in, to a nationwide audience.
