overview
"Hachinohe Enburi" is a folk performing art representing the Hachinohe region, designated as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan.
"Enburi" is a prayer for a good harvest that year, and is characterized by the unique dance in which the dancer, called a tayu, wears a gorgeous eboshi hat shaped like a horse's head and shakes his head vigorously.
The dance depicts the series of movements involved in rice cultivation, such as sowing seeds and transplanting rice.
