From the mid-19th century, when oil was still the "new light," to the distant future...
This epic story depicts the history of humankind's relationship with oil through the 150-year journey of one woman and her daughter. The film quietly questions the wealth and violence, dependency and desire that oil has brought, while closely following the lives of individuals.
Independence and restraint, hope and disappointment, love and betrayal - the emotional fluctuations that arise between people overlap with the world's instability over resources, leaving a deep impression on the viewer.
