身体は、最後の劇場である

言葉が生まれる以前から

身体は記憶している

触れたもの

失ったもの

忘れたはずの風景

名づけることのできない痛みと歓び

そのすべては沈黙の奥で堆積し

見えない地層となって身体の内部に眠り続けている

沈黙と祈りの果てに立ち現れる舞踏

■池の下について

1996年、演出家・長野和文を中心に結成。

寺山修司作品に潜む身体性と詩性を掘り起こしながら、単なる再演ではない創造行為として舞台化を続けてきた。その創作は常に意識の深層、水面下の領域へと向けられている。

2006年、利賀演出家コンクールにて野外劇『犬神』を上演し優秀演出家賞を受賞。2007年には『狂人教育』で韓国・中国・日本を巡る国際ツアーを敢行。2019年にはポーランドのグダニスク・シェイクスピア劇場およびグロトフスキ研究所より招聘を受けるなど、その独創的な身体表現は国境を越えて高い評価を得ている。

近年はアゴタ・クリストフ、ハロルド・ピンター、マルグリット・デュラスら海外現代戯曲にも取り組み、身体と言語、記憶と歴史の交差点を探り続けている。

■長野和文

演出家、美術家、身体表現研究者。

浅草に生まれ、絵画、演劇、舞踏という異なる領域を横断しながら独自の表現世界を築く。高校時代に野口三千三の身体思想に触れ、桐朋学園演劇専攻在学中より舞踏に傾倒。後に大野一雄に師事する。

1996年、演劇と舞踏の融合を目指す舞台芸術集団「池の下」を創立。2006年、利賀演出家コンクールにて優秀演出家賞受賞。寺山修司全作品上演計画、「MISHIMA PROJECT」、海外作品シリーズなどを国内外で展開。俳優教育者としても活動し、身体表現を基盤とした独自の創作・指導を行っている。

The body is the last theater

Even before words were born

the body remembers

things that have been touched

things that have been lost

landscapes that should have been forgotten

pain and joy that cannot be named

All of it accumulates in the depths of silence

and continues to sleep inside the body as invisible strata

Butoh that emerges at the end of silence and prayer

■About Ikenoshita

Formed in 1996, centered around director Kazufumi Nagano.

While unearthing the physicality and poeticity hidden in Shuji Terayama's works, they have continued to stage them as a creative act that is not merely a re-enactment. Their creations are always directed towards the depths of consciousness, the realm beneath the surface.

In 2006, he staged the outdoor play "Inugami" at the Toga Directors Competition and won the Outstanding Director Award. In 2007, he embarked on an international tour of South Korea, China, and Japan with "The Education of a Madman." In 2019, he was invited by the Shakespeare Theatre in Gdansk and the Grotowski Institute in Poland, and his original bodily expression has gained high acclaim across borders.

In recent years, he has also worked on contemporary plays from overseas, such as those by Agota Kristof, Harold Pinter, and Marguerite Duras, and continues to explore the intersection of body and language, memory and history.

■Kazufumi Nagano

Director, artist, and researcher of bodily expression.

Born in Asakusa, he has built his own unique world of expression by traversing the different fields of painting, theater, and dance. During high school, he was introduced to the body philosophy of Michizo Noguchi, and became devoted to Butoh while studying in the drama department at Toho Gakuen. Later, he studied under Kazuo Ohno. In 1996, he founded "Ikenoshita," a stage arts group aiming to fuse theater and Butoh. In 2006, he received the Outstanding Director Award at the Toga Directors Competition. He has developed projects both domestically and internationally, including a plan to perform all of Shuji Terayama's works, the "MISHIMA PROJECT," and a series of overseas works.
