映像2本立てで堪能する、現代を生きるわたしたちにとっての

「アイデンティティ」

カナダの振付家デイナ・ミシェルは彫刻、映像表現、心理学などから影響を受け、独自のダンス言語によってさまざまな潜在的社会慣習を打ち破る作品を発表。世界各地に招聘され注目を集めてきた。今回は、2016年以来上演を重ねてきたソロ作品『Mercurial George』の記録映像と、最新の映像作品『Lay them all down』(2020) の2本立てによる映像上映会で、フェスティバルのオーディエンスに紹介する。

『Mercurial George』で繊細なジェスチャー、サウンドや歌と共に問いかけられるのは、極めて普遍的かつ個人的なメッセージだ。『「アイデンティティ」とはどこから来て、どのようなかたちで、あなた自身に設定されるのか？モノや感情、愛情との影響は？』コロナ渦での開催となった今年の第11回ベルリン・ビエンナーレで初公開された映像作品『Lay them all down』は、ビジュアルアーティストのトレーシー・モーリスとのコラボレーション。ライブパフォーマンスを元に構成されており、ミシェルは美術館の空間から空間へと移動し、男性用スーツや時にはラグのようなもの、様々に外見を変えながら、怒り、性、混乱、力や喜びなどさまざまな感情のなかに自己を見出していく。細やかで豊かな機微に満たされたミシェルのダンス世界を余すところなく体験して欲しい！

Asked with delicate gestures, sounds and songs in Mercurial George is a very universal and personal message. "Where does" identity "come from and how is it set for you? What is the impact on things, emotions, and love? The video work "Lay them all down", which was premiered at the 11th Berlin Biennale this year, was held in Corona Whirlpool, in collaboration with visual artist Tracy Maurice. Built on live performances, Michelle moves from museum space to space, like men's suits and sometimes rugs, anger, sexuality, confusion, power and joy, with various appearances. Find yourself in various emotions. We want you to fully experience Michelle's dance world, which is filled with delicate and rich subtleties!
