概要

デザイナーの皆川明（1967－）が設立したブランド、ミナペルホネン。流行に左右されず、長年着用できる普遍的な価値を持つ「特別な日常服」をコンセプトとし、日本各地の生地産地と深い関係性を紡ぎながら、オリジナルの生地からプロダクトを生み出す独自のものづくりを続けてきました。

皆川がミナペルホネンの前身となる「ミナ」を立ち上げたのは1995年。「せめて100年つづくブランドに」という思いでファッションからスタートした活動は、その後、インテリアや食器など次第に生活全般へと広がり、現在ではデザインの領域を超えてホスピタリティを基盤にした分野へと拡張しています。そのたゆまぬ歩みは、2020年に25周年を迎え、これからも続いていきます。

本展覧会の「つづく」というタイトルは、文字通りブランドの時間的な継続性を示すものですが、それだけでなく、つながる・連なる・手を組む・循環するなど、モノや人が連鎖し何かを生み出していく生成のエネルギーを想起させる言葉でもあります。多義的な意味をもつ「つづく」をキーワードに、本展覧会では、生地や衣服、インテリア、食器等のプロダクトに加えて、デザインの原画、映像、印刷物、皆川明の挿絵など創作の背景を浮き彫りにする作品群や資料も併せて展示いたします。

ミナペルホネンと皆川明のものづくりとその思考をこれまでにない規模で紹介する本展覧会は、私たちの日常生活やその先にある社会の仕組みについて新たな視点と示唆をもたらすことでしょう。

Mina Perhonen is a brand founded by designer Akira Minagawa (1967-). Based on the concept of "special everyday clothes" that are not influenced by fashion and have universal value that can be worn for many years, we continue to create unique products from original fabrics while weaving deep relationships with fabric production areas in various parts of Japan. Minakawa launched "Mina", the predecessor of Mina Perhonen, in 1995. Activities that started from fashion with the idea of "becoming a brand that will last for at least 100 years" have gradually expanded to general life such as interiors and tableware, and now they are expanding beyond the realm of design to fields based on hospitality. increase. That tireless step will continue, celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2020.

The title "Continued" in this exhibition literally indicates the continuity of the brand over time, but it also means that things and people are chained together, such as connecting, connecting, joining hands, and circulating. It is also a word that evokes the energy of generation that is being produced. With the keyword "continue", which has an ambiguous meaning, in this exhibition, in addition to products such as fabrics, clothes, interiors, and tableware, the background of creation such as original designs, videos, printed matter, and illustrations by Akira Minagawa will be highlighted. We will also exhibit a group of works and materials to be used.

This exhibition, which introduces Mina Perhonen and Akira Minagawa's manufacturing and their thoughts on an unprecedented scale, will bring new perspectives and suggestions to our daily lives and the structure of society beyond.
