A Noh performance hosted by Wakikata, held once a year
This year, we will be performing the Kyogen play "Suho Otoshi" and the Noh play "Rashomon."
Rashomon is a rare piece that you won't be able to see again for several years if you miss it, so please take this opportunity to see it.
Synopsis
Suho Otoshi
A master decides to make a pilgrimage to Ise Shrine and sends his servant, Taro Kaja, to invite his uncle, with whom he had long promised to go.
The uncle declines to accompany him due to the suddenness of the trip, but sensing that Taro Kaja will go, he offers him sake to celebrate his departure.
Taro Kaja is pleased with his uncle's generous hospitality and drinks several cups of sake, even receiving a formal suho (a type of robe). On his way back to his master's house in high spirits, he begins to feel the effects of the sake he drank...
Rashomon
One spring rainy night, Minamoto no Yorimitsu, having defeated the demon of Mt. Oe, holds a banquet for his retainers. In the midst of the festivities, Fujiwara no Yasumasa and Watanabe no Tsuna get into an argument about whether or not a demon lives in Rashomon, and Watanabe no Tsuna decides to go to Rashomon alone with a talisman as proof.
Amidst a fierce storm, a demon appears from behind Tsuna as he is about to leave after placing the talisman down. After a battle, Tsuna skillfully cuts off the demon's arm, and the demon flies away into the void.
