Jito: Takahashi Shinobu, Guardian: Kaneharu Norikazu. Synopsis of Sekiji Komachi. On the night of Tanabata, the head priest of Sekiji Temple takes a young boy to visit an old woman who lives in a straw hut in the mountains and is known for composing waka poetry. As the priest and the old woman discuss waka poetry, they realize that the old woman is none other than Ono no Komachi. Komachi reminisces about her past and laments the cruelty of the world, but since it is Tanabata, the priest invites her to offer a prayer to the stars and has the young boy perform a dance. Komachi joins in the excitement and performs the old woman's dance, but as the night draws to a close, she becomes ashamed of her old age and stumbles back to her original straw hut, relying on a walking stick.
