Tamakazura
Tamakazura, the lady-in-waiting, had a strange fate, captivated many men with her beauty, and was beloved by Hikaru Genji. At the mercy of fate, Tamakazura was washed ashore on the Hatsuse River, where she was reunited with her maid Ukon. A village girl and a traveling monk in a small boat encounter each other...
Based on The Tale of Genji, this Noh play depicts Tamakazura, obsessed with love.
Wild Geese
A feudal lord on a picnic spots a wild goose and tries to shoot it with a bow and arrow, but has difficulty hitting it. A man passing by easily knocks down the goose with a pebble and tries to take it home, but the feudal lord threatens him with a bow and arrow, telling him to leave the goose behind...
Handan (Handan)
The Handan pillow is said to be able to foresee one's future. When the troubled young man Lu Sheng borrows the pillow and falls asleep, he becomes the emperor of the state of Chu, enjoying great splendor and eventually reigning for 50 years... Lu Sheng wakes up from a dazzling dream and realizes that his 50 years of glory were only a moment's sleep while he cooks millet.
A Tang Dynasty Noh play in which dream and reality unfold dynamically.
