A woman, who has gained fame for her Yamamba dance, requests a song from Hyakuman Yamamba and reveals herself to be the true Yamamba, appearing in the deep moonlight... A Noh play depicting Yamamba, a shape-shifting spirit who expounds profound Buddhist philosophy and observes all things in nature.

In the Mai-bayashi, Yamamba appears from the deep shadows of the mountains, dances along with Hyakuman Yamamba's dance, and shows herself traveling through the mountains in each of the four seasons in gratitude for this connection, before departing in the final scene of the Noh play.
