The monk Gyokei of Ninna-ji Temple brought a biwa from Aoyama to mourn for Taira no Tsunemasa, a member of the Taira clan who was killed in the Genpei War at a young age. Then, Tsunemasa's ghost appears with a shadow swaying in the light, and only his voice can be heard vaguely.
From a young age, Tsunemasa was favored by Cloistered Imperial Prince Shukaku of Ninna-ji Temple, and was entrusted with the biwa of Aoyama. Even though he enjoys a night out, he eventually suffers from the punishment of Shura-do, becomes ashamed of himself, and disappears.
A Noh play in which Taira no Tsunemasa is the main character, as seen in "The Tale of the Heike" No. 7. Taking the theme of "The Tale of the Heike" and interspersed with Chinese poems such as "Bakushi Bunshu" and "Wakan Roeishu", this song beautifully depicts Tsunemasa's love for poetry instruments.
