Noh Tomoe Uzawa Hikaru
Kyogen Yokoza Nomura Manzo
Noh Tomoe Kanze Kiyokazu

Tomoe
A monk from Kiso, Shinano Province, arrives in Awazu, Omi Province, during his travels. A woman weeps alone at a shrine dedicated to Kiso Yoshinaka, who died here, and asks a monk from the same hometown as Yoshinaka to hold a funeral for Yoshinaka, before disappearing.
Soon, as the monk is chanting sutras into the night, the ghost of Tomoe Gozen, clad in armor and holding a long sword, appears before him. Tomoe, obsessed with the regret that she was unable to be with Yoshinaka because she was a woman, begins to talk about her own brave battle and the final moments of Yoshinaka, when he commits suicide...
Tomoe is the only one who survives. This is the only Shura Noh play with a female protagonist, and her loyalty and affection for Yoshinaka are depicted in a brave and elegant way.

Yokoza
Someone who found a cow visits a man who knows cows. Meanwhile, the man is searching for his lost treasured cow, and when he sees it, he notices that the cow that Someone brought back is none other than Yokoza, the cow he is looking for. The man claims that it is his cow, and Someone promises that if he calls the cow's name and it responds, he will return it, but...

Toru
In the autumn capital, an old man appears at the ruins of Rokujo Kawara-in, and tells the traveling monk that Minister Minamoto no Toru once had seawater brought here from Naniwa Bay to be burned, and shows him how to collect seawater.
Soon, in the ruins illuminated by the bright light of the moon, Toru's spirit appears as he did in his old days, and he reminisces about the days gone by...
Minamoto no Toru is said to be the model for Hikaru Genji. The scene of his lost, glorious days is depicted in the ruins of Kawara-in under the lonely moonlight. A poetic masterpiece of autumn composed by Zeami.
