Kyogen Yobikoe Daikura Motomasa
Noh Yamauba Tanimoto Kengo

Yobikoe
Hearing that Tarokaja had returned last night after being out without permission, the master heads to Tarokaja's private residence with Jirokanja to punish him. When they arrive at the residence and the master and servant ask for directions, Tarokaja, fearing that he will be scolded by his master, decides to pretend not to be home. So the master calls out to him in an artificial voice so as not to be noticed, and Tarokaja imitates him, announcing his absence in an artificial voice.
Soon the master begins to call out to him in a Heike-bushi and a short song, and in the end it turns into a dance...

Yamanba
A prostitute from the capital known as Hyakuman Yamauba became famous overnight for her song and dance that sang about the way a Yamauba goes around the mountains. The entourage heads off to visit Zenkoji Temple in Shinano Province. On the way, the sun suddenly sets in the mountains of Echigo, and a village woman appears before the group, who is at a loss as to where to go, and offers to let them stay at the house.
The woman reveals that she is in fact the true Yamauba, and asks Hyakuman Yamauba to sing the Yamauba song. Hyakuman Yamauba is afraid and hesitates to sing. However, Yamauba says that she will wait until the moon comes out and if Hyakuman Yamauba sings the Kuma-mai dance as promised, she will reveal her true self, and disappears.
Soon the moon rises, and Hyakuman Yamauba sings the Kuma-mai dance as promised, and a Yamauba appears in the form of a demon woman with a deer-backed staff in her hand. She explains that there is no distinction between good and evil, and that this world is made up of various principles, and dances the Kuma-mai dance of Yamauba, which shows the philosophy of the world.
The Yamauba goes on to say that she cannot escape reincarnation, and that her delusions have accumulated to the point that she has taken on the form of a Yamauba. She complains about the pain of being a pilgrim in the mountains, and after showing them what she looks like, she disappears.
A large-scale Noh play depicting the Yamauba as a shape-shifting spiritual being who preaches profound Buddhist philosophy in the mysterious deep mountains.
