Nukekara
The master orders a messenger to Sakai, Izumi, to ask Taro Kaja for some snacks. The sake-loving Kaja asks the master for some before the messenger arrives, and he becomes so drunk that he falls asleep on the roadside during the errand.
Worried about the Kaja's condition, the master follows him, and in order to teach him a lesson, he puts on a demon mask on the sleeping Kaja and returns home. When the Kaja wakes up, he feels his face is swollen, and is shocked to see the image of a demon reflected in the pure water...
Tomonaga
Tomonaga, the second son of Minamoto no Yoshitomo, was defeated in the Heiji Rebellion, driven out of the capital, and committed suicide at a young age. A monk from Saga Seiryoji Temple, who was once Tomonaga's tutor, visits the inn at Aohaka in Mino Province to mourn Tomonaga.
A rich man from Aohaka, who holds a seven-day memorial service for Tomonaga, arrives and turns out to be the female owner of the inn where Tomonaga stayed the night he committed suicide. When the monk and the rich man learn that they were both related to Tomonaga, they mourn his death together. The rich man then relates Tomonaga's final moments and offers the monk a place to stay for the night.
Late at night, the monk performs Kannon penance to mourn Tomonaga, and Tomonaga's ghost appears. Tomonaga speaks of the death of his father Yoshitomo, who was betrayed by his retainers and died a tragic death, and of his gratitude to the rich man who mourned him like a mother despite only being related to him by lodgings there. He then reveals the pain of his own descent into the world of asura before disappearing.
A rich woman who speaks compassionately of Tomonaga's death, and Tomonaga, a young warrior who knows firsthand the ties of a past life. An extraordinary Shura Noh performance.
