overview

Noh: Tamura: Nagayama Keizo
Kyogen: Flower Thief: Nomura Mansaku
Noh: Hagoromo: Umano Masaki
Okina
The play begins with the old man's opening chant, "Toto tarari tararira," followed by the dashing Sentose no Mai, the solemn Okina no Mai, and the powerful Moru no Dan and Suzu no Dan dances of Sanbaso. A Shinto performing art that preserves the ancient form of Noh, celebrating peace throughout the world and bountiful harvests.
Tamura
The mysterious child who appeared at Kiyomizu-dera Temple in spring was actually an incarnation of Sakanoue no Tamuramaro... This Noh play depicts the miraculous tale of Kannon Bodhisattva, told on a spring evening when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom.
Flower Thief
A man who attempts to steal a cherry blossom branch is caught by the flower owner lying in wait and tied to the tree's trunk. The man engages in a dialogue with the flower owner, reciting ancient songs and Chinese poetry related to cherry blossoms...
An elegant exchange of hearts between the flower owner and the flower thief.
Hagoromo
It is a tranquil spring day in Miho no Matsubara. One morning, fisherman Hakuryu finds a celestial being's robe hanging from a pine tree and tries to take it home as a family heirloom, when the celestial being's owner appears and laments that he cannot return to heaven without the robe. After the celestial being has his robe returned to him, he puts it on and dances, raining down many treasures before disappearing into the evening mist beyond Mount Fuji.
